When used properly, it contributes to lowering total cholesterol, LDL 'bad' cholesterol, triglycerides and VLDL - very low-density lipoproteins. All thanks to the steroidal saponins, which enhance the metabolism of cholesterol and its conversion in the liver to bile acids, whose excretion they stimulate.
