Olvita Cold-pressed Sea Buckthorn Oil is 100% oil from the pulp (fruit) of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) – cold-pressed, unrefined at the Olvita oil mill in Poland. Unlike most sea buckthorn oils on the market, it is obtained from the fruit pulp, not the seeds.

Intense orange-red colour (the natural colour of sea buckthorn from carotenoids), a characteristic fruity aroma and a delicately tart taste. The nutritional table is dominated by unsaturated fatty acids (88 g/100 g): polyunsaturated 64 g/100 g and monounsaturated 24 g/100 g (typical composition of sea buckthorn pulp oil).

Intended use

Oil for direct consumption or as a flavouring for cheeses, milkshakes, smoothies, dips, raw vegetable salads, salads and sandwich spreads. With its intense fruity aroma and vibrant colour, it works well as a colour and flavour accent on white foods (yoghurt, quark, hummus). Not suitable for frying – unrefined oil degrades at high temperatures.

Directions for use

Recommended serving size: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per day. Uses: drizzle over goat’s or sheep’s cheese, add to a fruit smoothie, use as an addition to a yoghurt dip, or in a dressing with honey and lemon.

Add just before serving – the intense aroma is best when fresh.

Storage

Store in a dark, cool place. Close the bottle tightly after opening. The oil may become cloudy or solidify at low temperatures – this is a natural phenomenon and is fully reversible.
