Selenium in supplements usually comes from mineral salts. Selenium MSE works differently: the mineral originates from Spirulina platensis, a microalgae cultivated to accumulate selenium within its own biomass. Each tablet is essentially compressed algae: 500 mg of spirulina with 50 µg of selenium, with no fillers.

One serving covers 91% of the Nutrient Reference Value, making the product suitable for everyday, long-term use. For a considerably higher selenium dose, Selemit MSE is also available, providing 200 µg of selenium as sodium selenite. The formula was developed in the German laboratory of Dr. Franz Enzmann (MSE) and is manufactured in Germany to GMP standards.
