Wintergreen essential oil is a product extracted from the leaves of the shrub golteria rozesłana (Gaultheria procumbens), native to the wild forests of North America. Despite its name and characteristic scent, the plant does not belong to the same botanical family as mint - goltheria procumbens belongs to the heather family. Wintergreen oil - properties

Wintergreen essential oil has a complex composition, but the most important substance is methyl salicylate, which resembles aspirin in scope. The product exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, and can be applied topically to relieve muscle, joint or back discomfort.
