Sodium percarbonate, also known asactive oxide or ecological bleach is a water-soluble powder that is found not only in factories but also in households. It is an extremely universal oxidiser with a broad spectrum of action.

Sodium percarbonate - properties

Sodium percarbonate is a crystalline, white or transparent substance that is highly hygroscopic and very soluble in water. Sodium percarbonate is obtained by the addition reaction of hydrogen peroxide. This is a chemical reaction in which molecules or atoms join together to form a new molecule without any side effects.

Active oxide is very often used in the manufacture of household chemicals - it is used in the production of:dishwasher tablets, deodoriser, toilet cleaners, stain remover, mould remover.

Sodium percarbonate should not be confused with sodium carbonate (soda ash), as they are two different substances. Sodium percarbonate is not hazardous to the environment - it is soluble in water, not prone to bioaccumulation, and is chemically decomposable.

Sodium percarbonate - uses

Sodium percarbonate has excellent cleaning, bleaching and disinfecting properties, so it can be used in any household for:

• cleaning toilets and sinks
• bleaching stains from clothes (lightens colours, so it is recommended for fabrics that do not lose colour easily)
• removing coffee deposits
• carpet cleaning
• cleaning of washing machines, dishwashers
• decalcification (e.g. of kettles)
• fungal decontamination, removal of mould from surfaces
• cleaning of garden sheds, furniture, doors, tents, cat litter trays

Storage

Store in a tightly closed container.
