Description
Coriander essential oil is extracted from the seeds or leaves of the coriandrum sativum plant. The extract is made by steam distillation from mature and dried raw material, as the fresh plant has an odor that is certainly not considered pleasant. Although it is primarily associated with culinary use, coriander in oil form carries a number of health benefits of significant importance.
Coriander oil - properties
Coriander contains biologically active substances that are responsible for antibacterial and antifungal activity - it cleans wounds and speeds up the healing process, soothes minor irritations (but used in excess can dry out the skin).
When used in cosmetics, the oil improves the appearance of the skin - it cleanses, tones and regulates sebum secretion. When used in massage, it relieves symptoms associated with diseases and joint strains.
It has a refreshing, herbal, spicy fragrance in which one can detect light fruity notes. It is known for its stimulating properties - it reduces feelings of fatigue and tiredness, adds energy and improves mood. Coriander oil blends perfectly with other essential oils, although even on its own it will give the room a wonderful, fresh aroma.
